By default, Helppier uses the padding and borders of the page element to add the shading/overlay around that element so if the element has a large padding Helppier will use it.
Helppier is not using the margin of the element for the background shading/overlay. For example:

If the boundaries don't match what you need consider selecting a parent (to increase the visible area) or child (to decrease the visible area) of that element.
